From Confusing Jargon to Clear Understanding
Back in early 2019, we noticed something frustrating. People wanted to
understand investing, but most educational resources either
oversimplified to the point of uselessness or buried learners in
technical terminology that felt like a foreign language.
Our founder, Sienna
Balfour, spent years working with individual investors across
Saskatchewan. She kept hearing the same thing: "I read three articles
and still don't understand what a dividend actually does for my
portfolio." That gap between information and genuine comprehension
became impossible to ignore.
So we built Meravox differently. Instead of starting with theory, we
began with the questions real people ask when they're sitting down to
make investment decisions. Questions like "How do I know if this risk
level actually fits my situation?" or "What does diversification look
like in practice, not just in concept?"
By 2023, we'd refined our approach through working with hundreds of
learners. The feedback loop taught us that people retain concepts
better when they can immediately connect them to their own financial
circumstances. That's become the foundation of everything we create.
